In addition to a well-balanced curriculum, Billabong High International School organizes a range of activities and events that are geared toward giving our students an arena to express themselves and unleash their creativity.
CoOL (Celebration of Organic Learning)
The ‘Celebration of Organic Learning’ (CoOL) is a student-led initiative where learners reflect on and articulate the ‘process of learning’ through the ‘what’, ‘how’, research conducted, areas of strength and development in the presence of an authentic audience. Some prominent attributes of this type of learning are High-Quality Work, Authentic Audiences, Communicating Learning, and Reflection.
MERAKI
The Meraki program is a series of thought-provoking sessions which are conducted by world-renowned leaders, to help students prepare for overseas education.
Session 1 – The first Meraki session was on ‘The Life & Death Of A Cell’ by our esteemed guest Dr. Jeremy Simpson, (Principal & Dean of College of Science, University College Dublin)
Session 2 – Led by Meaghan Blight, the President of Wesleyan College, USA, the second Meraki session was about empowering teenagers for leadership positions.
Session 3 – Our latest Meraki session was hosted by Dr. Barry Craig, the President of Huron University. The session was a truly enlightening experience for our students. Dr. Craig spoke about the Importance of Liberal Education in a rapidly changing global economy.
COWB – Centre of Well-being
At Billabong High International School, we aim to boost the all-round development of our learners, including their emotional and mental well-being with the Centre of Well-being or COWB. The programs and support services under this initiative are aimed at building mindfulness and resilience to help our learners grow into well-balanced and successful young adults.
The initiatives under the COWB include – ensuring well-being and excellence for all students, safeguarding the emotional, social and mental well-being of staff and students, counselling for students and employees, hosting frequent leadership team meetings, supporting wellness through professional counsellors, as well as conducting regular physical, mental and emotional health checks by experts.
